In cooperation with the County of Sacramento, the Legionaries of Christ, an order of priests dedicated to charity and education throughout the world, has begun to develop a new university near the City of Sacramento. The University, already an accredited graduate university with a campus in the heart of Sacramento, is planning a new university on 310 acres of land owned by the County. Total build-out of the campus would include 2,777,400 square feet of buildings, with a an added 1,800,000 square feet of university-related facilities (laboratories, conference facilities, retail, etc). The Plan is currently in negotiation with the County.
